Adjustments To The Settings:
Please consult our service department for any adjustments to the P-settings on the controller. Any unauthorized adjustments, such as trying to increase the power and/or speed, may result in damage and/or fire to the battery/motor and will void your warranty!
How to Maximize Your Lithium Battery Range:
A typical Lithium battery will be able to handle 300 to 500 charge/discharge cycles before diminishing in capacity. For an average electric scooter, this is 5000 to 15,000 Kilometres! The full lifespan of a scooter battery is determined by a few factors, including the battery’s size and watt hours, which is a measurement of its total capacity. But in general, a scooter’s battery should last around 1-3 years.
- Go easy on the throttle and avoid using power level 3+ for extended periods of time and while climbing hills
Don’t fully deplete your electric scooter battery. Rather than draining the battery, then charging it up again, as you may be used to doing with other devices, it’s better to charge your scooter battery at every opportunity. Try to always keep the battery above 20%, at minimum, and ideally above a 40% charge. If you can, fully charge the battery before a ride
Know your scooter’s range & battery capacity. You should familiarize yourself with the specifications of your scooter’s battery and find information like ampere hours (Ah) and voltage listed in the vehicle specifications or on the battery itself. Some scooters will also list the watt hours. If not, you can calculate this number by multiplying the ampere hours by the voltage. More importantly, you’ll want to know how long your scooter can travel with a fully charged battery & plan your trips accordingly so as not to fully deplete it. Ranges can vary widely depending on the model, size of the battery and the motor. Your scooter should be able to travel 30 KM+ on a single charge, but this number can be reduced by other factors, such as hilly terrain, hard braking, fast acceleration, high speeds, and use of lights and other electrical accessories. Developing good riding habits, such as accelerating slowly and giving yourself plenty of stopping time, will help extend your battery charge time and life
Don’t charge your battery for long periods of time unattended. Once the battery is fully charged, you should disconnect it from the charging cable. Never leave the battery charger plugged in unattended, and do not charge for more than 8 hours. You should know the total charging times for your battery and not exceed the maximum charging time indicated by the manufacturer. If you find that it takes much longer to charge your battery than specified, your battery may be defective or near the end of its lifespan. At this point, it is likely in need of replacement. Your scooter includes a 1-year warranty which may cover any battery failure not caused by poor maintenance or negligence
Let your scooter battery cool before charging. If you’ve been on a short ride, you can plug your scooter in to charge immediately, but if you’ve taken a long ride, the battery has built up a lot of heat and it is best to let that dissipate before plugging the battery in so let things cool down for 30 minutes before charging the scooter after a longer ride
Charge your electric scooter battery before storing it long term. Lithium batteries last longer overall when they have a constant stored charge, so if you need to store your scooter & won’t be using it for a while, it is best to fully charge it before putting it away. Charge the battery at least every 30 days if the scooter is not used regularly
- Always use the correct charger for your scooter battery. While it might cost less to buy an aftermarket charging cable, using chargers that are not approved for use with your battery can end up costing you more by shortening the battery life and can potentially cause a fire. Even if an aftermarket charger appears to work, it can under or overcharge the battery and cause irreversible damage and/or fire. Contact us if you need a spare/new charger rather than buying a generic option that can run your battery down
- Slow down a bit (and enjoy life), a few KM slower can save a lot of battery life
Keep your tires pumped up to the recommended pressure
The less weight you have on the bike the less battery power you consume
Cold Weather:
The good news is that you can discharge or use your battery no matter how cold it gets, without worrying about damage. You will notice that your lithium battery is dying much quicker than it had in warmer months. When temperatures reach this low (below freezing), it temporarily reduces the capacity.
Coming in from the cold your hands can hurt while they warm up. The same thing goes for lithium batteries. When your batteries internal temperature drops below 0C (32 F), the lithium cells are unable to accept the same amount of charging current (warmth) as they did when the temperature was warm. Don’t charge your lithium batteries when the battery temperature is below freezing and keep your scooter inside to keep it dry.
Tips for Riding Your Scooter Safely:
- Always wear a helmet and protective gear while riding your scooter
- Read the owners manual and understand your settings and display before operating
- Watch videos on how to use your scooter – see our web site
- Use the skateboard stance. Your strong front foot points forward & diagonal and your back foot points to the side
- When starting have one foot on the scooter and push off with the other
- Always maintain traction with both wheels
- Allow plenty of room for breaking
- If you lose control when moving slowly, just let the scooter fall and jump off to the side
- Select the “Econo Mode” while on the road or bike paths to restrict your speed to max 32 Km
Reminder to bring your scooter in for a free service after 3-5 uses. This will ensure maximum performance and help prevent future service issues.
